My "Presidential Portraits" were stitched on 28 count Tea Irish Linen by Charles Craft with one strand of DMC black floss over two threads of linen.  The finished size on 28 count linen is 8 x 10 inches. 

I got all of my supplies and frames at Michael's craft store.This was a quick and fun pattern for me to stitch and I hope you enjoy it! My only advice to you is to use a pencil or highlighter to cross off each row as you finish it so you don't get lost in the heavily shaded areas.
